Shireen graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and a BA Minor in Spanish. In Septermber 2007, she is returning to UBC to obtain her Bachelor of Education Degree. She intends to inspire and guide young people in tandem with her own artistic endeavors. Shireen has been developing her artistic practice by experimenting and integrating printmaking and digital techniques into her paintings and prints. The phrase in one of the letters ("writing through the flowers") has been an inspiration and has evoked this work of art. Her own personal reflections and environmental issues have influenced other works of art. Presently, she is exploring themes related to the destruction by the pine mountain beetle and the diminishing numbers of monarch butterflies. Her mixed media of abstracted layers reveal the deconstruction of nature and the need for sustainability.
